Signs and Symptoms of Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA)

What are some indicators of PsA?

Joint pain, stiffness, and swelling.

While the exact cause of PsA is unknown, an overactive immune system can cause inflammation inside your body. This immune response can make your joints stiff and sore, which are common symptoms associated with PsA. In addition, inflammation can cause flare-ups on many parts of your body along with other PsA symptoms like swelling and difficulty moving.

Affected fingers and toes may become swollen and resemble sausages, a condition called dactylitis and sometimes referred to as sausage digits.

Psoriatic arthritis can also cause tender spots where tendons and ligaments join onto bones. This can result in pain at the back of the heel, the sole of the foot, around the elbows or in other areas and is called enthesitis.
